African Language Program Development and Evaluation

The NALRC not only helps to strengthen existing African language programs, but also encourages the creation of new African language programs. One of the activities in which the Center engages is the development of African language program evaluation guidelines, which meet both national guidelines for program assessment and the goals of African language program coordinators in the United States. Another activity engaged in is Program Evaluation and Mentoring. This is simply the process by which the Center offers support and consultation, on an as-need basis, for African language program administrators. The book, African Languages in U.S. Colleges and Universities: Program Development and Administration Guidelines (2002), published by the NALRC has been a useful tool in this area.
