Workshop on Incorporating Business Concepts in World Languages Instruction

The NALRC, in Collaboration with Indiana University, Bloomington’s Center for International Business Education Research (IU-CIBER), and IU Title VI National Resource Centers (NRCs), is pleased to announce a workshop on incorporating Business Concepts in World Languages.

This week-long workshop is organized for instructors of all World Languages. The workshop will:

  • Introduce world language instructors to the “World Language Curriculum Framework that Incorporates Business Concept” at the Elementary and Intermediate Levels of language instruction and train them on how to use the document.
  • Train language instructors to develop learning plans and scenarios for their languages using the Curriculum Framework.

Cost:

The Business in World Languages is free and open to all current or future instructors of all World Languages.

The NALRC and CIBER will cover the program fees (such as registration, administration, books, and instruction costs) for all selected applicants.

  • Participants in this workshop will be remunerated to create sample learning plans that will be used in their classrooms and shared with colleagues.
  • Exemplary learning plans will be included in the World Language Curriculum Framework booklet which will be made available online for free to all K-16 instructors.

Participants will be responsible for their accommodation and lodging expenses. We encourage prospective participants to ask for support from their respective departments and language or area studies programs to cover expenses that NALRC/CIBER will not cover.

Lunch, including tea and coffee, will be provided during the workshop.
